Eames Shell Chair 75th Anniversary

brand campaign; long form motion, iterations, collaboration

back       next

The Eames Shell Chair is an iconic piece of furniture that has often been imitated but never replacated. To celebrate 75 years of the Shell chair Kristin and her team, including Kelly O’Hara and Molly Singleterry, made it their goal to concisely tell the story of the chair.

Kristin worked closely with copywriter Molly to cultivate a shortened retelling of how the shell chair came to be. The timeline originally was going to be visual only but Kristin suggested adding a voiceover for viewers to more easily enjoy. She collaborated with Molly and Kelly to successfully celebrate and share the story of the Shell Chair.

Skethcing

The first step for Kristin was to talk with Kelly to establish a look and feel for the timeline. Kelly requested that the timeline be simple and refined so Kristin pulled some inspiration and started making static and motion sketches. She also began to think about how the timeline would look in social as this would be posted on the brands instagram.

First drafts

After establishing a look and feel Kristin began adding color and more potential images. She worked closely with Molly to make sure the images correlated with the script.

Finalizing and versioning

After getting the final voiceover file and clearing images with the archives and Eames Office, Kristin made final tweaks to the timeline. She also split up the long-form vertical version into parts to be posted on instagram.
